Amadon, Horse Bodies and Torre Compete in the Jack FM 96.5 Battle of the Bands Seattle

Tuesday night was the second installment of the local Battle of the Bands at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA. There were three bands competing to make it to the final round. Amadon, Horse Bodies, and Torre. The bands in this competition are competing to take home a cash prize of over $10,000.

The crowd enjoyed three hours of of live music. Some people in the crowd were clearly fans of one band or the other, but it was clear that everyone enjoyed all three sets.  The bands all put on a great show.

First to perform was Amadon. Amadon is from Tacoma, WA. Band members are Calen Tackett, Beau Noyes, Ashley Holscher, and Daine Bambico. They have a lively melodic rock sound. Their sound is not over the top or too gritty, perfect to sing along to. Amadon has released the album Here to Stay. You can listen to it here. CD’s are available for purchase at their live shows. There next show is Friday, July 18, 2014 at the The Gig Spot in Gig Harbor at 8:00pm.

Next up Horse Bodies. Horse Bodies is from Olympia, WA.  Band members are Hawk Foxman, Zach Walters, Andrew Lippincott, and Kevin Strand.  To me band this band sounds like Creedence Clearwater Revival meets funk and rock.  They describe their sound as “rock and roll explosion electrified with gritty Southern blues and a 70’s-era vibe.”  You will have to listen for yourself to decide.  Their next show will be at the Bite of Seattle Friday, July 18, 2014 at 1:00pm on the Mural stage.  They are currently recording a new full length album. They have two albums Terror Train EP and The Magical Airplane.

Last band to perform in this round of the battle was Torre.  Torre is out of Tacoma, WA.  Band members are: Stephen Stasi, Jaron Skolrud, Eva Dizon, Skyler DelaTorre, and Ben Beman. Torre’s sound is a mix of rock and jazz. I noticed a little blues in the vocals reminicent of Rival Son’s.  Torre’s debut album Casting Shadows is available for download on their website.

At the end of the night votes were counted. It was the closest voting I can recall for a Battle of the Bands. Just one vote, yes I said (1) vote, separated the winning band.  Amadon won this round and will be advancing to the the finals. The final competition is set for Friday, July 25, 2014 at 8:00pm at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA.
