February 27, 2017 Last Monday evening Swedish Black Metal band Marduk hit the stage at Studio 7 in Seattle, WA. The band was scheduled to perform in Seattle last year but due to visa issues they had to cancel their tour leaving fans wondering if they’d get the chance again to see them.
Fans were thrilled to when the announcement came out in December 2016 that indeed they were hitting North America in February on their Frontschwein North America 2017 tour with a limited number of tour dates that started in Tampa and ended in Seattle. For us in Seattle, we were thrilled to see we were on the list for this tour.
Being that Seattle is my home town, I’ve seen Xoth, Dilapidation and A Flourishing Scourge before and knew this show was getting kicked off with some really great music. Any of these three bands are worth checking out, so locals get out there and support these guy when you see them listed an a lineup.
Incantation hit the stage and tore the crowd up with their insane death metal. Anyone who follows the metal scene knows these guys. They’ve been around for many years and make some really great music! After the show I had a chance to chat with John McEntee and he mentioned that a new album is in the works so keep your eyes open for this new release. It’s sure to be another great one.
Last for the night was the most anticipated band, Marduk. Being Swedish Black Metal, these guys had some troubles along the way on their tour that had Seattle fans wondering if we’d have trouble at our venue or not. The band had Anti-Fa protesters in Austin and had to cancel their show in Oakland, CA due to threats that had the police also decide the event should be cancelled. So we were pretty thrilled to see them arrive and not have any issues or have our show cancelled.
The guys hit the stage and performed an intense set for the fans who went absolutely crazy moshing in the pit. They played many fan favorites throughout their set. The fans really enjoyed this show and it was a great night of metal music for everyone that made it out to the show. Hopefully we will see these guys back on tour again soon.
