Smile Empty Soul
Rarities
MRAfia Records
Release Date: 10 March 2017

This 13 track album is comprised of a rock sound that holds elements of grunge, alternative and hardrock/punk. There are also 3 cover songs on the album that Smile Empty Soul have put their own touch on. I heard influences throughout this album from artists such as Nirvana, Alice In Chains, In Flames, and Green Day.

On this album there is a mix of slow grunge, a few alternative rock with melodic to screaming vocals, then fast and frantic hardrock/punk infused songs.

I like that it has a good mix of different instrumental sounds and tempos as you get to each different song. It keeps it fresh and interesting. Even through the more up tempo tracks I found this album to be a bit calming to listen to. I particularty like the vocals on this album, one minute they are calm the next they are screaming. All in all I enjoyed this album and would suggest to rock fans to pick up a copy.

Grunge inspired: Something New, Alone, This is War, Wasted Town, For You, Finding Myself, Aneurysm (Nirvana Cover)
Alternative inspired: One At A Time, Who I Am, Precious Things (Tori Amos Cover), Possession (Sarah McLachlan Cover)
Punk inspired: Goodbye, What’s Going Through My Head Right Now
