March 10, 2017 One of the most notable and loved female rock vocalists, Ann Wilson of famed rock band Heart spent Wednesday, International Women’s Day, opening her solo tour at Seattle’s Moore Theatre. On this tour Ann Wilson was performing some of Heart’s hit songs along with songs by other artists.
I heard about this show a few months back and knew it was a show I had to see for myself. I’ve had the pleasure to see Heart in many live shows so getting a chance to see Ann Wilson in a solo performance of this kind was a fan’s dream come true.
Upon entering the venue for the evening, it was clear there was something different to be expected during this performance. The stage was stripped down in a minimalist style. Bouquets of hand tied flowers were laying on the front edge of the stage and lit candles were strategically placed around the stage. This show was clearly set to be an intimate event.
As the show started the lights dimmed throughout the venue and across the stage, slowly the lights on the stage lit up and Ann Wilson took to the stage with her band as she started singing “The Real Me” and directly followed up with “Barracuda”. The songs were stripped down a bit for this solo tour and in between songs Ann stopped and talked to the fans as fans responded back by yelling out, “We love you Ann.”
Midway through the show there was a short intermission and wardrobe change. After the intermission the show started back up with a performance of “A Million Miles”. The show consisted of a 21 song setlist taking the show performance time to a little over 2 hours.
This was an amazing show. Ann‘s voice was complete gold as always! She is Seattle’s rock daughter and always will be. There is no one like her and there never will be anyone who can replace her.
Ann‘s tour just kicked off and she’s on the road through early April with this solo tour. I suggest you catch her if she’s coming to a city near you. This is a show you don’t want to miss! See her tour dates below.
