Album: Life Changes
Label: Big Machine Label Group, LLC
Release Date: September 8, 2017
The newest release from country artist Thomas Rhett, Life Changes is an album full of county music with pop hooks, R&B grooves and soulful bursts that are all tied into an anything-goes attitude of country-pop-rock.
This follow up to his 2015 release of Tangled Up has a more matured sound that takes him to the next level. Thomas Rhett took part in writing all but four of the songs on this album. The four songs he didn’t write are “Craving You”, “Drink a Little Beer”, “When You Look Like That” and “Grave”. While all the songs on the album are good, after listening to the album a few times you can pick out the songs that have Rhett’s feel to them in the writing. Those songs just have a different feel and arrangement that fit his writing style.
The first track “Craving You” starts the album off with a smooth upbeat song that will pull you in and make you feel like dancing. Throughout the album there are musically beautiful songs paired with deep and thoughtful lyrics about love and life as in “Unforgettable” and “Marry Me”, while at other times just lyrics about having fun as in the song “Drink A little Beer”.
Thomas Rhett co-produced Life Changes with Dann Huff and Jesse Frasure. It’s a great new album that has something new for country music fans to enjoy.
