Review and photos by Tammy Greene.
On Saturday, November 25th, 2017, Santa Anita Park the home of Thoroughbred racing in Arcadia California, hosted the first Annual Rust Festival.
The catchphrase was “Black Saturday” establishing a new holiday tradition, featuring over 11 hours of live music where it will pay respect to “Heavy Metal Day” from the US Festival ’83, featuring eleven of the best Tribute bands in the surrounding area.
Two stages, Rust Stage, and Legends Stage strategically placed as one stage ended as the other began, while the fans shifted from one to another. Besides minor technical issues that were addressed promptly, all ran smoothly. All the bands delivered what the fans came to see, a good time was had by all. You have to start somewhere, the groundwork has been laid for years to come, making this an annual event, which I hope to see next year.
“Chris Mitrovich, founder of DELUXE Presents and RUST Festival explains, “DELUXE Presents was formed in 2016 to produce boutique music festivals that focus on the art rather than the artist, allowing for an original rock and roll experience where the sole focus of the festival is on the music”.
