The band just performed in Columbia prior to making their way to NAMM, a country they last performed in 17 years ago. They then made their way to California where they performed a one off show at San Diego’s Brick by Brick as well as taking in a photo session in Los Angeles. When I caught up with Jocaim Cans, we chat about what fans can expect from Hammerfall in 2018. Here’s a little of what he had to say, but listen to the full audio interview below to hear everything he had to say, in his own words.
This year is set to be a busy year for the band between touring, writing new music and getting back in the studio. I asked Joacim Cans about the upcoming tour and what fans can expect since they will be headlining this time. Can‘s had this to say, “First of all, we are going to change the setlist for sure, because this is the 20th anniversary of second album ‘Legacy of Kings’. So we are going to have a little focus on that album, we’re not going to play the full album of course. Last year we did like a medley of some cool parts of ‘Glory to the Brave’. Now we’re going to do more or less the same thing with ‘Legacy of Kings’. We’re going to change some songs, so the people who saw us on the previous tour will recognize a lot of the material, but there will be some surprises in there.”
When I asked Cans‘ if there’s something he hasn’t done yet in music or entertainment he had this to say. “The only thing I want to do now is to take the step from the theater scene to the movie scene.” I for one hope that we see this desire come to life!
We also talked about their sponsor Ultimate Ears who supply their ear monitors, one of Hammerfall‘s long time sponsors. The band is also working out something new with BOSE, they were spotted at NAMM checking out the S1Pro speaker. We even spotted Pontus Norgren testing out one of their homeland amp makers, Olsson Amps, new 50W portable head.
