Thundermother Album Review
Album: Thundermother
Label: Despotz Records
Genre: Hard Rock
Release Date: February 23, 2018
4.5/5.0

One had to wonder how a new Thundermother album would sound with a huge lineup change in 2017.  Well I am happy to tell you that although it was sad to see the old members of Thundermother exit all at once aside from the founder Filippa Nässil, the current line up sounds amazing!

A few months back we got our hands on the video for “We Fight For Rock N’ Roll” and we were blown away at how great it sounded.  The new line up has definitely dialed in their sound.  Fans of hard rock can rejoice and throw caution to the wind as they debate on purchasing this new album.  Lay your money down on it, just do it!

On the first listen to the full album I wasn’t completely convinced.  I must say this may be an album that listeners might need a second pass through to fully get the album. After a few full listens, I was solidly committed to the new album.  But I also must profess, I was a fan of Thundermother before the line up change too, so it was a bit different for me in my first experience through the new album. So if you are like me, a fan of earlier years of Thundermother, give the new line up a real chance to make an impression on your ears. You will find what I did in this album and become convinced of the new line up.

There are a couple slower/softer songs on this album, “Revival”, “Fire In The Rain” and “Won’t Back Down” but each hold a kickass blues undertone to them that balances out the less aggressive rock tempo. The rest of the album will kick you in your ass and get you up on your feet. As a fan of rock music for as long as I can remember, I for one appreciate what these rockers have done on the new album.  There’s classic rockin’ riffage that fans are going dig laced with amazing vocals from Guernica Mancini who has a killer tone in her voice as she belts out every lyric.  She’s got such control and grit at the same time in her vocals.

True rock fans are going to want more of this album with each listen. It’s got all the classic hard rock elements fans will love mixed with the radness of some badass music chicks kicking ass and taking names! There are so many great things going on through out this entire album that fans are going to be pulled in many different directions as they listen. Of course, if you simply want to sit back and take it all in, you can do that too! There’s something for everyone in Thundermother!

My final thoughts on the new album, BUY IT and enjoy it! Solid new release from Thundermother. If you happen to be in Sweden during the next month,  you also have the chance to catch Thundermother live as they kick off a release tour tomorrow night with support from Frontback and VA Rocks
