Exodus Mr Pickles Thrashtacular Tour Comes To Seattle – This past Thursday the Mr.Pickles Thrashtacular debuted to a sold out crowd in Seattle. For those of you who may not know who Mr.Pickles is, he is an animated dog who has his own show on Cartoon Networks Adult Swim. On the show there are many metal references which caused a tour to be created in it’s honor. The line up for the tour was stacked with bay area thrash legends Exodus and Virginia’s Municipal Waste.
First up for the evening was Seattle’s own Vesuvian. The band was a great opener and got the crowd moving almost instantly. With heavy breakdowns and melodic guitar hooks they owned the stage. They ended their 30 minute set with a new song that will soon have a music video available. Make sure to go check this band out when they play a venue near you.
Next up was Municipal Waste. The band came out to a wild crowd that could hardly contain their excitement. As soon as the first power chord hit the crowd immediately broke out into a mosh pit that filled up a large portion of the floor. Vocalist Tony Foresta riled up the crowd by getting right in the faces of the audience and having them sing a long with him. Members of the audience then started climbing on top of each other to start stage diving. Things got even more crazy during the song “You’re Cut Off” when the mic went out due to technical difficulties but the audience made up for it by screaming along to the song. The 45 minute set came to a close with their hit song “Born To Party”. Municipal Waste puts on a one of a kind set that makes you feel like you are back in the 80’s during the thrash metal movement. You definitely need to be ready for audience participation and have a keen awareness for bodies coming at you from all directions.
The moment had arrived for the thrash metal legends Exodus to perform. As soon as the band started the audience went into a frenzy as the song “Bonded By Blood” kicked off the set. With the audience chanting the chorus to the song the volume in the building seemed even louder thanks to the fans which was an awesome thing to see and hear. Following that, vocalist Steve Souza welcomed the crowd to the show and then said he wanted to see a circle pit for the song “Blood In, Blood Out”. The audience was happy to oblige. During the middle of the song guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus did dueling solos standing next to each other. The hour long performance showcased many fan favorites such as “Body Harvest”, “A Lesson In Violence”, “War Is My Shepherd” and “The Toxic Waltz”. The set came to an end with the classic song “Strike Of The Beast”. Getting to see this band in an intimate setting was a great experience for all fans in attendance. If you are able to catch any of the remaining tour dates I would highly recommend doing so.
