Folk Metal never sounded so good! Next up in a long line of amazing musical releases, Eluveitie: Ategnatos is set to be an incredible release!
True to their Pagan stories, Eluveitie bring listeners another intense journey focused on mythology, pagan belief and spirituality. Flutes ever-present, the album starts off with spoken word, flutes then an epic music intro with haunting chants then effervescent vocals before the tempo and screaming vocals unleash.
The musical aspects of this album are top notch. Well written, composed and performed. Vocals in multiple languages with clean and scream vocals to mix up the tracks. Sampling of earthy elements like rain and wind add the mystery of the journey while infusing some haunting details. Versatility in the stringed instruments from harp, fiddle to bass and guitars. Many tracks have convulsive drumming tempos, layered with flutes, bagpipes, whistles and one my favorite fascinating instruments, the hurdy gurdy.
There’s so much going on that listeners are going to feel so many emotions as the music flows.
There are a few of the stand out tracks I really enjoyed. “Black Water Dawn” has this insane folk metal sound to it then when you get to the solo in the song you get a heavy guitar solo that drops into this hard rock style that will catch listeners by surprise. “Mine Is The Fury” is rage heavy with lots of insane growling vocals to delight fans, by far one of the heaviest tracks on the album. Then there is “Threefold Death” with it’s mix if gentle vocals, screams, intense drumming with blasting tempos with a twist of push and pull through the song weaving between calm and mania.
Eluveitie delivers an experience music fans will really enjoy. Each listen through the album, there will be new elemental discoveries for fans to enjoy. Go buy this album! Out on April 5th via Nuclear Blast Records!
