Shallow Side – Saints & Sinners is a true southern rock album. It’s not one that will blast your face off, but instead will give you a slightly more mellow rock experience with the periodic infusion of upbeat tempos to rock you all while wrapped up in the southern vibe.

There are a few tracks like “Drugs & Lust” that give a bit more of a modern rock spin to their sound, but overall a great rock experience is waiting for fans. During the progression of the album there are a few points where I hear some elements that take on more of a country/rock sound like with “Revival” that give the feel to their southern roots of Alabama. Not that the album turns into a country CD, just the regional influences one from the south might expect to show up here an there.

What I really enjoyed on this album is the feel isn’t overly produced, it’s kept a bit of their rawness in the recording, which for their first full length release, it sets the expectation of their music for the listeners. There’s also a heavy influence of blues in their overall sound that adds depth to their sound that matches the pained sound of many of the vocals, especially on the track “Temptations” that goes from haunting to pain filled vocals.

Shallow Side Album Teaser:

For those who need to have that track that blasts them with fury, you will get that with “Hallelujah” as it blasts open with a heavy tempo and power filled vocals and heavy guitar riffage. It doesn’t stop there either, immediately after “No More” will continue to take listeners on a heavy ride before slowing down to a heavy, slower tempo with “All Rise”. So many great things are going on in this album that listeners are going to be taken in a number of directions and experience some true displays of musicianship.

This album was creatively done and delivers an enjoyable musical performance. I don’t think fans of rock music will go wrong taking this one for a spin! Available next Friday, March 29th! Go grab a copy and enjoy!
