Saint Asonia – Flawed Design. Saint Asonia is back with a solid rock release! Out tomorrow, October 25th via Spinefarm Records.
This new album is a deep and often in a dark spaces. Lyrics that are cutting deep from personal life experiences, loss and the tragedy that life can bring. The music often has a throwback feel to the 2000’s rock sound with a twist of modernization. The vocals give another depth to the music as you feel the pain and emotion that goes with the written word of the lyrics.
Being a rock album, you wouldn’t expect anyone to refer to it as a beautiful album, but in this instance it’s an appropriate description. Soul shattering, haunting, familiar and honest. Great melodies, blended with intentional musical elements that make each track it’s own masterpiece.
There was a collective of writers when it came to the writing with the inclusion 0f Adam Gontier, Mike Mushok, Cale Gontier of Art of Dying, Sal Giancarelli of Staind, co-writers: Dustin Bates of Starset, Stevie Aiello of Thirty Seconds To Mars, and Keith Wallen of Breaking Benjamin. And Sully Erna of Godsmack and Johnny K of Disturbed on the track “The Hunted”. There’s also a guest vocalist in the track “Sirens”, Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation. So to expect anything less than something epic, is unimaginable.
This album plays out track through track facing all the demons of life. I was completely sucked into each track and thoroughly enjoyed this album. I think it was packed full of great writing. It was recorded/produced and mixed perfectly rendering a solid rock album that the band can be proud of. Even if to them it peels their skin back making them vulnerable to the fans and critics out there.
Final thoughts, you’re going to want this album. It’s going to make you feel something, many of you are going to relate with the lyrics as they mirror your own personal experiences. Even if you can’t relate, you’re going to enjoy this one.
