Edge of Paradise – Universe. I am really happy to see this band back with a new release and their first under the Frontiers Music srl label!
This is a band I’ve been follow for a few years now and to hear how they’ve progressed with this new album, I’m really pleased. They’ve gone through a few lineup changes and of course that’s had some contributions to the direction of this new album, but no so much that it’s not Edge of Paradise.
Frontwoman Margarita Monet‘s vocals are a bit different on this release, giving a new feel to the new music and it really works. She’s challenged herself and didn’t play it safe. I appreciate the diversity she’s put into this album.
The music itself is more substantial than the last release and progressing in a positive direction. I think they’ve gotten a little more mainstream in the musical aspect, but not overboard. I think this is a perfectly balanced album between vocals and music.
The lyrics are also a bit deeper and challenge the listener to pay attention and inspire thought and feeling about what you are hearing. It’s not all just a deep and feeling, it’s also enjoyable. So whether you want to go philosophical or just jam, there’s something for every listener.
Final thoughts, great new album. I think Edge of Paradise is headed in the right direction and I think fans need to check them out and give them a chance. The band is headed overseas on tour with Sonata Arctica starting November 11th in Stockholm, make sure if you are a reader from Europe that you get out there to see them live. I’ve had that opportunity and they do a great live show.
