From the first note this album I was immediately pulled into the music. It’s hard, it rocks and is a non stop great listening experience.

For a band who’s been making music as long as they have, it is great to hear an album this far into Shakra’s career that feels complete and polished. There’s not a track on the album that doesn’t feel like it belongs or was rushed. The writing is strong and the performance equally matches it.

I’d say that ‘Mad World’ is packed with plenty of riffage for the guitar fans. There are many intense and gritty solos, smothered with some heavy bass tracks and powerful drumming. Add in vocals and you have a great hard rock album. This is the kind of album that can easily be the soundtrack to your summer or inspire the perfect Friday night out.

At the end, the album slows down on the last track “New World” with a melodic ballad that feels a bit sad in the music and the vocals.

In summary: Shakra has created a enjoyable album that will certainly find it’s way into many hard rock listeners collections. I am sure to spin this one quite often.
