We’ve lost a legend today. Sad news has come that Eddie Van Halen has lost his long battle with cancer at just the age of 65.

The iconic guitar player, Eddie Van Halen co-founded the rock band Van Halen in 1972 with his brother Alex, David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony. The band went on to carve their place in rock n roll history with iconic albums Van Halen, Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Diver Down, 1984 and 5150 among a large musical catalog since inception. In 2007 the band made their debut in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a well earned accomplishment.

After years of living his life almost completely in the public eye, EVH took a step back over the past few years while going through his cancer treatments. To many his diagnosis and battle has been a shock today along with his passing.

Van Halen is survived by his wife and son to whom we send our deepest condolences.

Rest In Peace EVH!
